Chaytow vows to bring stability to club

Barry Chaytow (pictured), Athletic’s new Chairman, has vowed to bring stability to the club but admits that time will be needed. Chaytow said, “The club was only hours away from going out of business last week, so getting through this won’t be easy. I would ask fans to be patient with myself, the board and Iain because it might take a couple of years to turn things round completely. Survival is the name of the game but, with the help of local businesses and individuals, I’m absolutely positive we can do it – my door is open to anyone who can help. I wouldn’t dream of talking about big ideas or grand targets. Staying in the second division is the most important thing, and it’s something else I’m convinced we will do. I’ve only known Iain for a short time, but I’m very impressed with his work and I’m behind him 101 per cent. Discussing a contract is a priority and money will also be available for players, although we are probably looking at free transfers.”
Mr, Chaytow, a former Bolton Chairman and Carlisle director, made his money in the textiles industry and will be joined on the board by Sean jarvis, Neil Joy and at least two directors from ‘Trust Oldham’ and the Business Advisory Group’. It is possible that more backers will now be keen to get involved with Chris Moore finally gone from the club. The previous board has resigned en masse while Alan Hardy, who was suspended from his duties in April, is currently taking legal advice.
