The Latics lost their first pre-season friendly 2-0 at Blue Square Conference Barrow. Paul Dickov regarded the fixture as an excercise in fitness and played seven trialists but even so he was disappointed by his team's performance.
He said, “I will demand more of the players on Tuesday because I was not happy with our performance today. I don't care if it is pre-season, I want my team to play with a high tempo and pass the ball something which we didn't do. We mentioned before it was a fitness exercise, but we wanted to see some quality which wasn't there, but we will make sure it is in the next game. I want to win every game. Results wise it doesn't make a difference, but it does in terms of performance.”
