Laurent Banide, the Latics' new head coach, becomes the fifth manager signed by owner Abdallah Lemsagam - and this has all happened in the last 18 months! Lemsagam has said that Banide will bring a lot of experience but the jury is still out on whether he will complete his one year deal at Boundary Park.
All his experience is abroad and began in the 1990s at AS Monaco where he was in charge of their B side. His most recent job was in 2017 at Umm Salal in Qatar and in total he has held 15 managerial positions with 10 clubs. Thierry Henry has given his backing to Banide, saying that he was one of the most influential coaches in his playing career. We just hope that he can settle in to the Oldham weather at Ice Station Zebra after such extensive work in the Middle East's exotic hot places.
