Athletic open against Cardiff

We are not permitted to show the fixtures in full due to copyright but Athletic will face Cardiff City on the opening day of the new season. Latics new manager, Iain Dowie, said, “I think it's a good opener for us, it's the type of game we need. The lads have a score to settle and I will make sure that they will all be highly motivated for the game.”


Alan Hardy commented, “It's disappointing that we have to make long trips to Peterborough United, Luton Town and Bristol City in midweek as it makes it difficult for our supporters. I am sure that the fans will be happier with the trip to Blackpool on the August Bank Holiday and the return at Boundary Park on Boxing Day and then there is the last match of the season at Huddersfield which
I am sure will see us take a large following.”
