Athletic have received a warning by the Football Association following the brawl at Colchester and have escaped a fine but Colchester have been fined £1,000 for their part in the incident. Alan Hardy said, “We are disappointed that our players were deemed guilty because it was our opinion that they were the peacemakers following Clint Hill’s (pictured) sending off. The commission found us to blame but not sufficiently to impose a financial penalty.” Hill was dismissed after an altercation with Colchester’s Mark Warren who also saw red.
