Appleby to become a fixture

The Latics have opened talks with Matty Appleby's agent. Mick Wadsworth is keen to make the on-loan Barnsley midfielder's move to Athletic permanent as Steve Parkin has made it clear that Appleby is surplus to requirements at Oakwell.


The 29-year-old is being allowed to leave on a free transfer and has impressed during his time at Boundary Park. Wadsworth said, “He is a very talented player and the sort we need for a better squad.”
