A Cambridge specialist has confirmed that Latics midfielder Matty Appleby needs further surgery on his hip. The surgury has a 70% success rate of finally clearing up the problem that has seen Appleby play just three games since September 2002. The surgery will be followed by a three month rehabilitation programme which means that Matty should be fully fit for the start of the 2004/2005 season if all goes well.
