The Latics pulled off another impressive away win at Colchester on Friday which brought their recent improvement record to six matches undefeated. The victory brought relief from relegation thoughts but there is still no room for complacency as safety is still not guaranteed.

An ecstatic manager Lee Johnson praised his players and said, “I think 50 points will probably be enough but I will sit down and work out all the permutations. We are looking up now and we have to set the tone for next year. It's important that the lads stay focused and move on to Monday in front of our fans with our new stand going up and show the performance that everybody wants to see. It was a very hard fought victory. It was a vital day for us and a vital win. I thought we defended like Trojans. It was a tense game but it was important for everybody that we got numbers and energy behind the ball. We limited them to very few good efforts. There were corners and shots from the edge of the box but if you watch the game back, you would probably see it was more comfortable than it looked.”

“The fans were superb. I was expecting about 150 as it is Easter but they have gone beyond the call of duty and they never stopped singing all afternoon. I think at the moment the players have got a really good relationship with the supporters and long may that continue.”
