Lee Hughes (pictured) got the two goals to nick the Latics a point but in fairness they could have come away from London Road with all three points after Hughes missed out on his hat-trick when he was through on a break with just six minutes remaining. In the first minute of injury time a Chris Taylor curler was headed off the line and then Danny Whitaker fired the ball over in the final seconds.
Manager John Sheridan was full of praise for his never say die side. He commented, "We expected a very hard game and that's what we got, against a Peterborough team who are probably the biggest attacking threat in this division. I won't go on too much about the decisions made by the referee because 6,000 people in the ground saw them for themselves. To come from two goals down to get something from the game against a very good team is a massive plus point for us and shows plenty of character. As a squad I don't think we ever think we're out of games, and we always try to win no matter who we're playing."
"Either team could have won it at the end and I think it was a fair result. To come from behind against the form team of the division is excellent. We didn't get the bit of luck we needed at the end, and how their lad has cleared it behind for a corner I'll never know. Both teams tried to win the game today and neither deserved to lose."
