All the euphoria surrounding the return of Joe Royle turned pear shaped as the Latics lost 0-2 to Tranmere Rovers, the club managed by ex-Latics manager Ronnie Moore. Big Joe must now realise the enormity of the task as he has just eight games left to turn things around and get the Latics back into the play-off spots, a position they had held for most of the season up to the debacle at Franchise FC a week ago.
It must be admitted that the Tranmere side played some of the best football ever seen by a Ronnie Moore managed team as they competently dealt with all the Latics could muster, snatched two priceless goals (one from a penalty), and deservedly walked away with the three points on the day. It can only get better ...... or can it?
