PKF, the advisors working with the Latics, have announced more news regarding the administration situation. After leaving fans worried over the possibility of worthless season tickets and more players sales PKF have assured the Latics that neither will occur under the current management.
It had been envisaged that as of October 1st, the club could class season tickets as worthless as administrators create a new Oldham Athletic company. PKF however put worried fans at ease with the following statement "Season tickets will be honoured during our time at the club and we hope any successor will do the same."
The Latics must still find money however, for them to be able to begin a new era as a new company. At present, the club still needs half a million pounds to cover current debts - the biggest including the Inland Revenue who forced about the administration situation - and then also provide evidence it can afford another £0.7m to complete the season.
These latest figures sparked off fears that highly regarded talents like Will Haining and Les Pogliacomi may be the next to go, however PKF also admitted that to sell anymore players now would be "irresponisble." However, new signing were also ruled out.
As fans begin another 6 weeks of worry, speeding towards a September 30th deadline, PKF did lighten the mood by indicating that Administration isn't as bad as it sounds (although, that is provided the money's can be raised.) PKF stated, "Going into administration is a way of telling people they can come in and invest for the future rather than compensating for the past."
Whatever happens, the Latics still need as much helps as possible and they have urged all stewards to report as normal for Saturday's visit of Blackpool. Thankfully, this Lancashire derby couldn't have come at a better time. Let's hope they bring a few!
