The Latics pulled out a valuable point from their trip to league leaders Burton Albion in the televised game which ended goalless. Manager John Sheridan said that his team fully deserved it as they held a lot of the possession.
Sheridan said, “I think we definitely deserved a point out of the game. There wasn’t too many chances for both sides. They hit the bar and we’ve had a few half chances but I thought we looked good as a team. We played against a team who have been scoring goals and beaten lots of teams but we looked compact. We knew the importance of getting something from the game, so it’s a point and we’ll take it into the next game. People expected us to get beat but we have shown we are a half decent side. We’ve come and got a point against the league leaders so it gets us a little closer to where we want to be. We have a couple of games at home and we know the importance of picking up points.”
